What to expect from therapy with me
Therapy with me is a relaxed but fully engaged two-way conversation - built on trust, warmth and genuine interest in what is happening for you. My initial training was in person-centred therapy, which still forms the heart of my philosophy: you and only you, know what is right for you.
My role is to hear deeply what you share, so we can start to understand the different ways you can feel and bring these into conversation with each other. This allows a fuller, integrated sense of who you are to emerge and a clearer sense of what you want and need. And I hope, alongside it, a renewed, confident sense of your self-worth.
I'll bring my reflections and observations when it feels helpful and offer you new perspectives, always while supporting your autonomy. I am very happy to be asked questions and will share with you as much of my knowledge and experience as I can.
When we are exploring gender, I'll also offer you frameworks for thinking about gender and transness for us explore together, so you can find your own vantage point. I can also offer my knowledge of going through the private and NHS transition routes if and when this is relevant.

Styles of Working
Some people flourish with having open-space in therapy, whilst others benefit from more structured sessions. When you begin therapy, we can discuss which approach—or mix of approaches—feels most helpful for you.
‘Open Space’ Therapy
Open-space therapy offers safe, supportive sessions to explore whatever is arising for you without any agenda—your thoughts, emotions, experiences, or the patterns you notice in your life. It is a more classic therapeutic approach, where you decide in every session what you want to talk about and we go wherever that conversation takes us. The aim is to give attention to what matters most to you, gain new understandings and a fuller sense of what is right for you.
Structured Therapy
For some people thinking of new topics to discuss each week can feel a bit overwhelming or unfocused, and a sense of order can help. With structured therapy, we'll take a different approach. We'll take some time at the start of therapy to identify what some of your core themes are, then we'll work to address them bit by bit in sessions. There's still scope to decide to talk about something different when you want to - but it can also help keep things on track when needed. Especially if you are working through a potential gender transition, working with my Transition Planning Tool could form part of that structure if it looks helpful.
Creative Approaches to Therapy
For some people having a creative way to express themselves alongside talking can be really helpful. There are many ways we can integrate creativity into our work. Some clients use sessions as a prompt to make collages between sessions that we can then use to feed our discussions. Others take photographs each week, that can create a therapy storyboard that tells their inner story. Other people bring an object from their life to sessions as a prompt to tell me about something important that has happened in the past or is happening now that they want explore. I'd also encourage and welcome your own creative ideas if you are attracted to working in this way. And there's certainly no pressure or expectation to get creative, if simply talking is more useful for you.

Fees and Practicalities
Online Working
I offer sessions via secure video link. I'll send you details about how to set up for sessions.
Free Initial Call
It can be helpful to have a brief call before starting sessions together to check that we are a good fit - it's important to feel that you have found a therapist you are comfortable with. I don't charge for this and we can have up to half an hour to chat and you can ask me any questions you have. If it feels right, we can go ahead and get our first full session booked.
Fees
I charge £80 per session, which you can pay via bank transfer or Paypal
Frequency
Therapy depends on regular contact. It's helpful if possible to meet weekly at first to help build a relationship and get some momentum going. But I am open to both a weekly and fortnightly pattern.
